MELOR016
Didz & Chico, Ft. Vanity
"When I Say"

Pulling in influences from their old UK Garage and grime roots and raw, deep house, Didz & Chico's 'When I Say' is a mellifluous vocal track with a stunning topline from singer Vanity, laid over warm chords, and sharp percussion. It's a utterly pleasant exercise in a style that's often just done wrong.
Didz & Chico are a Cardiff-based production duo who started making beats in 2003 when grime was peaking. The duo always had a versatile ear for different genres and as dubstep was evolving through the darker side of grime, they gravitated towards a combination of those sounds.
Whilst Didz continued making grime/dubstep, releasing his solo work on labels like LS2 Records (and very soon on Catapult), Chico began getting immersed in the building underground UK House scene centered around London about 2006 and began releasing under his Organ Grinder moniker for labels such as the Clone affiliated 4lux, and more recently Addison Groove's Lost In Translation imprint.
As 2-Step rhythms and UK funky beats started to creep into dubstep, it brought the two heads together to concentrate on producing their unique blend of garage and house. Their excellent single, 'Something New', on Ten Thousand Yen brought them to the attention of Melodica boss Chris Coco last year, and the rest is history.
Vocalist Vanity is soon to feature on the new Metabeats album too so keep any eye out for her sultry talents. To accompany the original record we've got a super-swung house edit from C.R.S.T's Tony Blitz, adding a solid groove for those later sets. Chris Coco himself serves up his own edit too, taking us on a dubby excursion rich with reverb and delays that'll make you all warm and fuzzy inside
